The Rudimental Ritual and Eleven Ways

• Level: Intermediate/Advanced
• Required Materials: Progressive Steps to Syncopation for the Modern Drummer by Ted Reed. A standard 4-piece drum kit, sticks and brushes.
• Description: You will learn The Rudimental Ritual, a 15-30 minute drum song incorporating all of the American Rudiments, Swiss Rudiments and Dawson’s innovations over the Samba foot pattern. You will develop your independence and soloing through learning Dawson’s eleven ways of interpreting the eight exercises presented in the book Syncopation by Ted Reed.
• Skills: You will own a daily practice routine that will continue to deepen and refine your playing for a lifetime. You will achieve a depth of knowledge and proficiency that will set the stage for professional level performance on the jazz drum set.
